Easy Slow Cooker Chow Mein



👉Ingredients:

◾️1 kg (2.2 lbs) raw minced meat (beef, chicken, or pork – your choice)

◾️½ a cabbage, finely shredded

◾️2 medium carrots, grated

◾️2 packets of chicken noodle soup mix (dry)

◾️½ cup soy sauce

◾️1 litre water

◾️2 tablespoons curry powder

◾️1 cup raw rice


👉Instructions:

🔸️1. Add all ingredients into your slow cooker – no need to pre-cook the mince.

🔸️2. Stir everything together to combine well.

🔸️3. Cover and cook on low for 5 hours, stirring once or twice if you can.

🔸️4. Once done, give it a final stir. The rice should be tender, and the liquid absorbed.


▶️Optional: Garnish with green onions or a drizzle of sweet chili sauce before serving.


👉Tips for Perfect Slow Cooker Chow Mein:

1. Use lean mince

To avoid excess grease in the dish, go for lean ground meat or drain the fat after cooking if needed.

2. Cut veggies evenly

Shredding the cabbage and grating the carrots evenly helps them cook consistently and gives the dish a better texture.

3. Don’t lift the lid too often

Opening the slow cooker slows down the cooking process. Stir only once or twice during the 5 hours.

4. Adjust soy sauce to taste

If you prefer a less salty flavor, use low-sodium soy sauce or start with less and add more at the end if needed.
