Beef Goulash in the Crockpot – Hearty, Rich & Perfect for Batch Cooking!
👉Ingredients:
◾️1.8kg chuck steak, diced
◾️8 carrots, cut into chunks
◾️800g white potatoes, cut into chunks
◾️6 celery stalks, sliced
◾️2 brown onions, diced
◾️8 garlic cloves, minced
◾️2 heaped tsp Vegeta stock powder (or your preferred stock powder)
◾️500ml hot water
◾️6 tbsp tomato paste
◾️2 heaped tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
◾️2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
◾️2 bay leaves
◾️A sprinkle of thyme
👉Ingredients:
🔹️1. In a frying pan over low heat, gently cook the onions, celery, carrots, and garlic until softened – just until the onions are translucent. Stir regularly.
🔹️2. In the same pan, brown the beef in small batches for extra flavour.
🔹️3. Add all ingredients to the slow cooker, including the water, tomato paste, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaves, and thyme. Give it a good mix.
🔹️4. Cook on LOW for 8 hours, until everything is tender and the sauce is rich and full of flavour.
🔹️5. Serve with rice, crusty bread, or creamy mashed potatoes. It’s delicious either way – or even on its own!
👉Notes:
◾️This recipe makes a large batch – great for feeding a family for a few nights.
◾️You can halve the recipe if you’re cooking for fewer people.
◾️It freezes well, so stash some away for a no-effort dinner later.
◾️If you're short on time, you can skip the pre-cooking steps and just toss everything in – it will still taste lovely! But browning the meat and softening the veggies adds a deeper flavour.
🥳Happy cooking – and enjoy every bite!
