Cajun Fried Shrimp with Cajun Dipping Sauce

▶️ Ingredients


◾️ For the Shrimp:


12 large raw prawns, peeled (tails on)


½ cup vegetable oil


1 cup all-purpose flour


½ tsp lemon zest


½ tsp salt


1 ½ tsp Cajun seasoning


1 large egg


1 tbsp milk


1 cup panko breadcrumbs



◾️ For the Cajun Sauce:


½ cup mayonnaise


2 tbsp sour cream


1 tbsp ketchup


1 tsp Cajun seasoning


▶️ Instructions

๐Ÿ”น Make the Cajun Sauce:

Whisk mayonnaise, sour cream, ketchup, and Cajun seasoning in a bowl. Chill until ready to serve.


๐Ÿ”น Prepare the Shrimp:

1. In one bowl, mix flour, salt, lemon zest, and Cajun seasoning.

2. In a second bowl, whisk egg and milk.

3. Place panko breadcrumbs on a plate.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Set up dredging stations: flour → egg → panko.


๐Ÿ”น Bread the Shrimp:

Coat shrimp in flour (shake off excess), dip in egg wash, then press into panko until fully coated. Place on a clean plate.

1. Heat ½ inch of oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot (test with a breadcrumb—it should sizzle).

2. Fry shrimp for about 90 seconds per side until golden brown and crispy.

3. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
