Cuban Shredded Beef



◾️Tender beef slow-cooked in a rich, spiced tomato sauce with peppers, olives, and fresh herbs. This dish is packed with Cuban flavor and melts in your mouth!


๐Ÿ›’ Ingredients:

๐Ÿ”ธ️1 tbsp olive oil

๐Ÿ”ธ️3 lbs beef (flank, chuck roast, or brisket)

๐Ÿ”ธ️1 onion, sliced

๐Ÿ”ธ️1 green bell pepper, sliced

๐Ÿ”ธ️1 red bell pepper, sliced

๐Ÿ”ธ️1 yellow bell pepper, sliced

๐Ÿ”ธ️4 garlic cloves, minced

๐Ÿ”ธ️2 tbsp tomato paste

๐Ÿ”ธ️2 tsp ground cumin

๐Ÿ”ธ️3 tsp sweet paprika

๐Ÿ”ธ️Pinch of ground allspice (optional)

๐Ÿ”ธ️Pinch of ground cloves (optional)

๐Ÿ”ธ️2 cups beef broth

๐Ÿ”ธ️1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes

๐Ÿ”ธ️2 tsp dried oregano

๐Ÿ”ธ️2 bay leaves

๐Ÿ”ธ️1 cup green olives (sliced or whole)

๐Ÿ”ธ️2 tbsp capers

๐Ÿ”ธ️1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lime juice

๐Ÿ”ธ️Salt & black pepper

๐Ÿ”ธ️2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro (for serving)

๐Ÿšจ1. Sear the Beef: In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Brown the beef on all sides (about 5–7 minutes), then take it out and set aside.


๐Ÿšจ2. Cook Veggies: In the same pot, cook onion and bell peppers until soft (about 7–10 minutes).


๐Ÿšจ3. Add Garlic & Spices: Stir in garlic, tomato paste, cumin, paprika, allspice, and cloves. Cook for 1 minute.


๐Ÿšจ4. Simmer: Pour in the broth, diced tomatoes, oregano, and bay leaves. Return the beef to the pot. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and cover. Let simmer for 2 hours until the beef is very tender.


๐Ÿšจ5. Shred & Finish: Shred the beef with two forks. Add it back into the sauce with olives and capers. Let cook for another 5 minutes.


๐Ÿšจ6. Add Final Touches: Stir in vinegar or lime juice. Taste and season with salt and pepper. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
