Creamy Shrimp Newburg ๐ค✨ (No Wine Needed!)
๐Ingredients:
๐ธ️1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
๐ธ️2 tbsp unsalted butter
๐ธ️1 small onion, finely chopped
๐ธ️2 cloves garlic, minced
๐ธ️1/2 cup heavy cream
๐ธ️1/4 cup tomato paste
๐ธ️1/4 cup chicken broth
๐ธ️1/4 cup non-alcoholic white wine or more chicken broth
๐ธ️2 egg yolks, beaten
๐ธ️1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
๐ธ️1/2 tsp paprika
๐ธ️Salt and pepper, to taste
๐ธ️Fresh parsley, for garnish
๐ธ️Cooked rice or puff pastry, for serving
๐Instructions:
↪️1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sautรฉ onions and garlic until soft and fragrant.
↪️2. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1–2 minutes to deepen the flavor.
↪️3. Add shrimp and cook until just pink and opaque, about 3–4 minutes.
↪️4. Pour in chicken broth and the non-alcoholic wine (or additional broth). Simmer gently.
↪️5. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg yolks and heavy cream. Slowly stir the mixture into the skillet to avoid scrambling the eggs.
↪️6. Add Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let cook for 2–3 more minutes until thickened and creamy.
↪️7. Serve over rice or puff pastry, and top with fresh parsley.
๐Helpful Tips:
✅ Temper the egg yolks: Add a spoonful of hot liquid to the yolk-cream mixture first before adding it to the pan—this helps prevent curdling.
✅ Don’t overcook the shrimp: They only need a few minutes—remove them from heat once they turn pink and firm.
✅ No wine? No problem: A splash of lemon juice or white grape juice can also brighten the sauce beautifully without alcohol.
