Perfect for busy weeknights, weekend get-togethers, or anytime you want a hearty, comforting meal without all the work.
๐Ingredients:
๐น️3–4 lbs pork shoulder (also called pork butt)
๐น️1 large onion, sliced
๐น️4 cloves garlic, minced
๐น️1 tbsp paprika
๐น️1 tbsp brown sugar
๐น️1 tsp salt
๐น️1 tsp black pepper
๐น️½ tsp chili powder (optional)
๐น️½ cup apple cider vinegar
๐น️1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite kind)
๐น️½ cup water or chicken broth
๐Instructions:
✅️1. Prep the pork: Trim off any excess fat if you want. In a small bowl, mix the paprika, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and chili powder. Rub this spice blend all over the pork.
✅️2. Layer the slow cooker: Place the sliced onions and minced garlic on the bottom of the slow cooker. Set the seasoned pork on top.
✅️3. Add the liquids: Pour in the apple cider vinegar, BBQ sauce, and water (or chicken broth).
✅️4. Cook low and slow: Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 5–6 hours, until the pork is tender and pulls apart easily with a fork.
✅️5. Shred and serve: Remove the pork, shred it with two forks, then return it to the sauce in the slow cooker. Stir to coat it well.
๐Serving ideas:
Serve it on buns, over rice, in tacos, or alongside coleslaw and cornbread for a true Southern-style meal!
