Creamy Smothered Pork Chops

๐Ÿ”น️ Ingredients


◾️ For the Pork Chops:

๐Ÿ‘‰ 1 lb (500 g) bone-in pork chops (about ¾–1 inch thick)

๐Ÿ‘‰ ½ tbsp onion powder

๐Ÿ‘‰ ½ tbsp garlic powder

๐Ÿ‘‰ ½ tsp cayenne pepper

๐Ÿ‘‰ 1 tsp seasoning salt

๐Ÿ‘‰ ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper

๐Ÿ‘‰ 2 tsp olive oil

๐Ÿ‘‰ ½ cup all-purpose flour

๐Ÿ‘‰ 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

๐Ÿ‘‰ 1 tbsp unsalted butter


◾️ For the Gravy:

๐Ÿ‘‰ 1 tbsp unsalted butter

๐Ÿ‘‰ 1 large onion, thinly sliced

๐Ÿ‘‰ Pinch of salt

๐Ÿ‘‰ 4 garlic cloves, minced

๐Ÿ‘‰ 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped

๐Ÿ‘‰ ½ cup chicken broth (divided)

๐Ÿ‘‰ ¾ cup buttermilk or heavy cream

๐Ÿ‘‰ Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)


✅️ Instructions


◾️ Pork Chops:

1. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Pat pork chops dry and season with spices + olive oil.

2. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Dredge in flour (keep leftover flour for gravy).

3. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Fry in olive oil + butter until golden brown, remove and keep warm.


◾️ Gravy:

1. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Melt butter, add onions + salt, cook until caramelized (10 min).

2. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Stir in garlic + thyme, cook 30 sec.

3. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Add 2 tbsp leftover flour, stir, cook 2 min.

4. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Pour in broth, scrape browned bits, reduce 2 min.

5. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Whisk in buttermilk/cream, simmer until creamy.

6. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Return pork chops, coat with sauce, simmer 5 min.


✅️ Serving
